How Do I Get Involved?

Resident Council

The Resident Council is composed of five members: President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Treasurer. Elections take place at least once every three years for each position.

How to Run for Resident Council

Running for the Resident Council is a great way to get involved and make an impact in your community. If you’re passionate about making positive changes and representing your neighbors, this is your chance to step up and make a difference.

Step 1: Keep an Eye Out for the Announcement
  • Election Time! You’ll receive a notice about the upcoming elections at least 30 days before they happen. This notice will include all the important details like when and where the elections will take place and tell you everything you need to know about how to nominate yourself or get nominated by someone else in your community.
Step 2: Are You Eligible?
  • Check If You Qualify: To run for the Resident Council, you need to be on your apartment’s lease, and either be the head of your household or at least 18 years old. If that sounds like you, you’re good to go!
Step 3: Throw Your Hat in the Ring
  • Nomination Time: If you’re ready to run, follow the instructions on the notice to nominate yourself. Or, if you’re feeling the support from your neighbors, they can nominate you. Make sure your nomination meets all the requirements so you can move on to the next step.
Step 4: You’re in the Running!
  • Official Candidate: After nominations close, there’ll be a check to make sure all candidates meet the criteria. Once you’re confirmed, you’re officially in the race. This is your chance to shine and share your vision with the community.
Step 5: Get Your Message Out
  • Campaign Wisely: Depending on the rules in your community, you might have the chance to campaign. This is your opportunity to talk to your neighbors, share your ideas, and let them know how you plan to make a difference in the Resident Council.
Step 6: Election Day Awaits
  • Prepare for the Big Day: As the election day approaches, keep engaging with your community, listen to their concerns, and refine your message. Your dedication and vision are what will make you stand out.
